Fines for Failing to Comply

Beginning on July 1st, 2021, if a new, renewed or varied tenancy is signed for a Taradale rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work have to be taken care of within 90 days.

Taradale Healthy Homes Compliance Timeframes

Tenancies established in the period between July 1st 2019 and 30 June 2021

  • The insulation of the ceiling and underfloor is compulsory in all Taradale and New Zealand rental homes where it is reasonably practicable to put in.
  • A Healthy Homes Declaration of Intent, an Insulation Statement and an Insurance Statement must be included in any renewed, new or modified tenancy agreement.

Taradale rental properties should have a permanent source of heating that can warm the main or largest living space to a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius, even on the coldest winter days.
