Taradale Healthy Homes Compliance Timeframes

Tenancies signed in the period between July 1st 2019 to the 30th June in 2021

  • Ceiling and underfloor insulation is compulsory to all Taradale and New Zealand rental houses where it is reasonably practicable to install.
  • A Healthy Homes Declaration of Intent along with an Insulation Declaration and an Insurance Statement should be included in any renewed, new or modified tenancy agreement.
  • Property managers and landlords have to keep records that demonstrate compliance with any Healthy Homes Standards that apply or will apply to your rental home.

From 1 July 2021

  • Property managers and private landlords are required to ensure that their rental properties are in compliance with the Healthy Homes Standards within 90 days of any new, renewed or varied tenancy.
  • All boarding houses (except Kainga Ora and Community Housing Providers with registered for boarding household tenancies) must comply with the Healthy Homes Standard regardless of the time the tenancy began.

From 1 July 2023

  • All houses which are rented by Kainga Ora (formerly Housing New Zealand) and Community Housing Providers that are registered must be in compliance with the Healthy Homes Standards regardless of when the tenancy began.

From July 1st 2024

  • All rental houses must be in compliance with the Healthy Homes Standard regardless of the date when the tenancy started.
