Fines for Failing to Comply

From the 1st of July in 2021, when a brand new, renewed or varied tenancy is signed on a Bridge Pā rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance items have to be completed by the end of 90 days.

From the 1st of July in 2021, once a new or renewed Tenancy is signed for the Bridge Pā rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work must be completed within 90 days.

Additionally, there is an additional fine of up to $900 for property owners or property managers that provide false or inaccurate Healthy Homes Compliance Statement or any other information. The person who is responsible for this fine is the one who is identified on the tenancy agreement as the one who is leasing the property out and it could be the name of the landlord as well as the company that manages the property.

Tenancies signed from 1 July 2019 and 30 , June 20,21

  • Underfloor and ceiling insulation is required for all Bridge Pā and New Zealand rental homes where it’s reasonably practicable to put in.
  • A Healthy Homes Declaration of Intent as well as an Insulation Statement, and an Insurance Statement must be included with any renewal, new or altered tenancy contract.
